Alicia and Peter’s Wedding Celebration!

With an inspiring view on a hilltop overlooking the Elfin Forest, at a private venue called Above The Clouds, Alicia and Peter celebrated their wedding. It was a postcard-perfect day in a luxurious location, surrounded by their best friends and family who had traveled near and far.
As a wedding photographer, this made my job even easier to capture the magnificent moments of the day when the unique wedding venue was so magical!

One of my favorite moments was the bride and groom’s first look, located in the hillside garden alongside the waterfalls and pool. Incredible!

A happy smile from their dog, Macy, made the wedding ceremony even more fun as she sat in approval near them at the altar. With faces full of joy, Alicia and Peter greeted their guests with open arms after the ceremony, and enjoyed custom-created lemonade cocktails and delicious food by InStyle Catering.

With a variety of tunes, DJ Vaughn Burks kept the party moving; even a surprise flash mob to entertain the crowd. And who knows when a Zumba dance might appear?

With crystal-clear blue skies and a bayfront view of the San Diego skyline worthy of a postcard, I set out to Coronado Island. When I met up with Elizabeth, John and their 10 month-old baby, Caleb, I was overjoyed to reconnect with them!

The last time I photographed a session for their family was Caleb at 6 days old. Astonishing to my eyes, this little boy was growing into his personality with vibrant curiosity.

Today, we planned a Unique Photo Adventure at the ferry pier and park. With Caleb’s love for crawling, Elizabeth set him on the grass for his own adventure. Tapping into that inner childhood energy, I began capturing all the action shots and Caleb’s facial expressions. This is my dream as a family portrait photographer!

After several minutes of romping around, little Caleb gained even more confidence. With the excited cheers of his parents, Caleb rose to stand FOR THE FIRST TIME! The best part is that I photographed that moment, so they can relive the memory for years to come. (Elizabeth and John mentioned they’ll call me when they’re ready for Caleb to walk.)

A close friend of mine has a mantra, “Rock What You’ve Got!” What is it that you’ve got that is different than everyone else? When you go to networking events to meet potential clients or referral partners, how do you stand out?

When we begin our businesses, we think of our brand identity. Most people have a new logo designed with unique colors and symbols. This logo is added to your website and business cards, but does it adequately represent YOU?

What is a personal brand? As a solo entrepreneur, I AM MY BUSINESS. I am Guided By Imagination. People that I meet remember me for my bright colored flowers in my hair, or perhaps the theme song that I sing when I deliver my 30 sec. commercial.

Make a list of 10 things that separate you from your competition. Is it your specialized skills? Your pricing? Your unique creativity? Differentiation leads to memorability. This is part of your USP (Unique Selling Proposition); what your competition cannot offer.

Who do you want to attract? Make a list of your target clients. For me, it is important to magnetize the most creative-thinking people when I network at various venues. Perhaps some people are put off by my bold colors or personal style, but I want to empower others to think more outside the box.

How can you be remembered with sight, sound, and scent? Maybe you have a subtle perfume/ cologne that is easily complimented by others. Many Realtors bake chocolate chip cookies in the homes they are showcasing. I also know a woman who always wears violet clothing and accessories; I wear flowers and hats because people remember their experience with the 5 senses.

Confidence: just own it! It takes a lot of courage sometimes, but to have no fears about other people’s interpretations about you goes a LONG way in life. Most of the time our preconception of their opinion isn’t even correct; so we might as well think positively and come across as a powerfully confident person.

Life is too short to be stuffed in a box, so I challenge you to break free! Be open to the possibilities of evolving YOU. Just remember that flexibility creates freedom. Being flexible to new ideas and opportunities will open up doors that you never knew existed!

What a dream wedding day for Ally and Shane! After a lovely ceremony and gathering with family and friends from across the country, the party continued at Balboa Park’s infamous Prado Restaurant. It was quite a celebration!

I’m so excited to have captured some amazing moments from the extraordinary day, including exclusive views of San Diego. Best of all, I’ve made new friends with my wonderful clients; what a great couple!
