Trip Itinerary

    • Arrival in Leh: Arrive at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (Leh) by noon and check into your cozy hotel.

    • Acclimatization: Spend the day resting and adjusting to the high altitude.

    • In the late afternoon, depending on your health and comfort level, we’ll take a short drive to explore Leh city.

    • Visit the Shanti Stupa, which offers stunning views of Leh and the surrounding mountains.

    • Continue to the Leh Palace, a historic landmark that offers insights into Ladakh’s royal heritage and panoramic views of the city.

    • Dinner & Rest: Enjoy a hearty in-house dinner and get an early night's sleep.

    Leh at a glance:

Leh uniquely blends Ladakhi and Tibetan cultures amidst stunning landscapes. Its old town features stupas and whitewashed homes around the Leh Palace, while the bustling market below offers Tibetan cafes, local shops, and souvenir stalls.

  • After breakfast in Leh, we begin our scenic drive west into the Sham Valley, often called the “Apricot Bowl” of Ladakh.

En route, we stop at several significant landmarks. We visit the Hall of Fame, pause at the fascinating Magnetic Hill, and continue to the dramatic Sangam — the confluence where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet in striking contrast.

Further ahead, we reach Alchi, home to the historic Alchi Monastery, known for its ancient murals and Indo-Tibetan architecture. We then explore Takmachik Village, one of Ladakh’s noted eco-villages, where traditional mud-brick houses and apricot orchards offer beautiful photographic compositions.

By late afternoon, we arrive in Sham Valley and settle into our guesthouse surrounded by blooming orchards.

    Overnight in Sham Valley.

  • Today is dedicated to exploring the deeper cultural landscapes of Sham and the Brokpa region, also known as Aryan Valley.

This valley is home to the Dard (Brokpa) community — a distinct ethnic group with a rich and unique heritage. The region holds some of the oldest apricot orchards in Ladakh, and during blossom season the villages are transformed into soft shades of pink and white.

We spend the day walking through apricot-lined lanes, photographing traditional homes, meeting local families, and documenting daily life against the dramatic Himalayan backdrop. There will be time for environmental portraits, storytelling, and slow, immersive photography.

The evening ends with a peaceful village stroll beneath blooming trees before returning to our traditional guesthouse.

    Overnight in Sham Valley.

  • After breakfast, we enjoy a relaxed morning in Sham Valley before driving deeper into the Indus Valley toward the historic village of Tingmosgang.

Tingmosgang, once an important royal residence, is surrounded by dramatic rock formations, traditional Ladakhi homes, and beautiful apricot orchards. The village offers wonderful opportunities for slow, immersive photography — textured mud houses, prayer flags against rugged cliffs, and everyday village life unfolding in soft Himalayan light.

During the day, we visit nearby monasteries such as Rizong Monastery, known for its peaceful setting and striking architecture, and explore smaller village gompas tucked into the landscape.

By evening, we settle into our guesthouse in Tingmosgang, enjoying a quiet night in this lesser-visited corner of Ladakh.

    Overnight in Tingmosgang.

  • We begin the morning in Tingmosgang, taking advantage of the soft Himalayan light for a final village walk. Early hours here are magical — prayer flags fluttering in the breeze, golden light touching mud-brick homes, and apricot blossoms glowing against rugged cliffs.

After breakfast, we drive back toward Leh, stopping along the way for photographic opportunities in small villages and river valleys. The route offers layered compositions of Indus Valley landscapes, monastery backdrops, and traditional farmlands framed by snow-capped peaks.

Depending on timing and light conditions, we may visit or photograph monasteries such as Likir Monastery or Basgo Monastery, both offering dramatic settings and strong architectural elements against the Himalayan terrain.

We arrive in Leh by afternoon, with time to rest or explore Leh’s old town for street photography — narrow lanes, traditional Ladakhi homes, local markets, and distant views of Leh Palace perched above the town.

Evening at leisure, followed by an optional image review session.

    Overnight in Leh.

  • Today we embark on one of Ladakh’s most spectacular drives, crossing the legendary Khardung La, among the highest motorable passes in the world. The dramatic ascent rewards us with sweeping views of snow-covered peaks before descending into the stunning landscapes of Nubra Valley.

Upon arrival, we explore the apricot orchards of Hunder village, where blossoms contrast beautifully with the stark mountains. Nubra is also famous for its high-altitude sand dunes and rare double-humped Bactrian camels, offering unique photographic opportunities unlike anywhere else in the Himalayas.

We spend the evening immersed in the serene beauty of the valley, staying near apricot orchards surrounded by dramatic desert-mountain scenery.

Dinner and overnight in Nubra Valley.

  • Today we drive to the remote village of Turtuk, one of the northernmost settlements in India, located close to the Pakistan border. This culturally rich village is known for its flourishing apricot orchards and distinctive Balti heritage.

We enjoy a guided heritage walk through narrow lanes lined with traditional stone homes and flowering trees, meeting local families and experiencing the unique Balti culture. The village offers exceptional opportunities for environmental portraits, architectural details, and blossom-filled compositions.

The day concludes with an apricot tasting session and a traditional dinner in a Balti kitchen before returning to Nubra.

Dinner and overnight in Nubra Valley.

  • After an early breakfast, we begin our drive back to Leh, retracing our route over Khardung La.

En route, we stop at Diskit, the administrative center of Nubra Valley. Here we visit the iconic Diskit Monastery, over 500 years old and dramatically positioned on a hilltop overlooking the valley. The monastery offers panoramic views and striking photographic perspectives.

We arrive in Leh by late afternoon. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest, explore Leh town, or simply reflect on the journey through Ladakh’s blossom-filled valleys and high mountain passes.

    Dinner and overnight in Leh.

    • Enjoy a final breakfast before checking out.

    • Bid farewell to Ladakh. Carry back not just souvenirs, but incredible stories, stunning photos, and new friendships from India's most iconic mountain getaway.
